This is a 75-min session with a 30 – 45-min focus upon developing technique for front crawl and open water swimming, and then a 45 – 60-min training session for endurance swimmers.
We have 4 lanes each with a pace range in them so swimmers are working with similar level swimmers.
Lane paces are roughly
We have 2 -3 experienced coaches on deck running the sessions and working with all athletes.
Head coach, Mark Pearce, leads the sessions supported by his assistant coaches Chris Hine (BTF Level 3) and Nick White.
Our process when working on Technique is to start at the beginning and build better foundations of technique, before moving to the finer points. This means really learning to master breathing, kicking and core control, and improving body position.
These areas are all key skills to have before moving to aspects such as alignment, timing and propulsion. If we begin focussing upon a great catch when the swimmer has a poor body position they won’t be able to benefit as much as they would with a better body position first.
Unlike previous courses, we will be individualising the areas each lane focusses upon each week. This flexibility means that we can either repeat areas that swimmers are struggling with or move on faster if they are ready.
In the Training section, each lane has its own programme, that is relevant to the ability and level with in the lane. You can see an example of a session for Lane 1, Lane 2, Lane 3 or Lane 4 by clicking the link on each lane.
