Swim School

The new look Swim School

For the 2024/2025 season, Swim School has a new look. This is partly due to circumstances and partly due to the evolution of Swim School. For this coming season, the Swim School is smaller and more efficient; we are only taking SIX swimmers in a class.

The vastly reduced numbers mean we can focus more on each person, and deliver a more complete coaching service.

The sessions have moved to Monday 6 - 7 pm and will be every other week from September to Christmas.

Mark still coaches them and uses the same techniques and principles along with some new and innovative approaches to coaching.

If you are new to our Swim School, what can you expect?

Mark has run Swim School every winter since 2016, and until this year, it has been a larger group of swimmers with 2 - 3 assistant coaches helping to run the curriculum. You can read a little more about the process and important aspects of swimming here.

In our last course in January 2024, we made some changes to make the programme more exclusive and more in tune with each swimmer’s requirements. This meant lower numbers but a much lower ratio of swimmers to coach. This meant that we could tailor the session to the swimmer’s development. When they made good progress we could move quicker through the curriculum; if things took slightly longer, we could hold back and continue to work on specifics or try a different approach.

We can also provide video feedback within the session, which is only possible with a small group. Using OnForm, we capture the exercises and feedback as it happens and deliver this to each swimmer’s account and the group library (see image).

This provides the swimmers with a record of what they are doing, what they need to do and how they are progressing.
