WHAT IS INVOLVED?

We offer consultancy sessions on any aspect of endurance training, as well as sessions off the back of our INSCYD testing.

PART 1 - INFORMATION GATHERING

Once we have set up a meeting date then we need to gather some information to make the meeting effective.

  1. You will need to create a members account on our website – this keeps all your information available to you in one place.  Of course, you can download it and have your own copy.
  2. Complete our Athlete Summary Form, which includes information such as:
    1. Aims and goals – these are crucial to directing the consultancy.
    2. Outline history – how have you got to where you are now
    3. Injury history
    4. Available time – how much time to train and when do you have it.
    5. Available resources (power meter etc)
    6. Key Questions/Issues you want to discuss – Another key area in directing the consultancy.  You may be asking specifically about how to make the most of your fitness on race day for instance.
  3. If using Training Peaks or Todays Plan you will need to provide access.  Having such data available means Mark can provide a much more detailed review and analysis of training, strengths and weaknesses. You can temporarily link your account to Marks, so he can view it and analyse the information available.

PART 2 - CONSULTANCY

On the day of the meeting we generally use Skype or similar, however, Skype means we can record the conversation and make that available to you for review in the future.

Prior to the meeting, Mark will have reviewed the data and forms provided and created some summary reports. These will be available to you, and will form a part of the consultancy.

We will also prepare a guideline agenda.  Based upon the information you have provided and what is seen in the data from the training you have been doing, we can target the key areas for discussion to ensure we don’t waste time on areas that are not as pertinent.

PART 3 - THE ROAD MAP

After the conclusion of the consultancy, Mark will prepare a report for you.  This report will be based upon your questions, the information provided, the discussion and topics covered in the meeting.  Exactly what is covered in the report will vary from person to person, depending upon the areas you are interested in.

For instance, if you have been focussed upon how to plan your training over the long term to reach a peak, your report might look different to someone who has specifically been focussed upon improving bike performance in races.

HAD AN INSCYD PHYSIOLOGY ASSESSMENT ADN WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF THE INFO?

We offer physiological testing with blood lactate analysis and use the leading physiological data analysis tool INSCYD to identify critical areas for you to work on and how to make the most of your strengths.

You may have our own coach who wants to see the data and use it to input into your programme, or you may be self-coached.

If you are self-coached,  you may also want some help on how to make the most of the information.  With a consultancy session we can work with you and your data (the test results and previous training data) to make sense of what you have got right in the past, where it’s gone a little wrong, and how to structure your training moving forwards to achieve the results you are aiming for.

  • Which key sessions do you need to employ and when do you employ them?
  • Where does the intensity in training fit in and where do you need to fit the volume work in?
  • How can you make the most of the time you have available to train?
